This year's Advent market will be moved from the square to the Castle Hill (Jirásek Street) and will be connected with the lighting of the Christmas tree on 29 November 2015. Our idea is to extend the Advent market in Litomyšl to all the following Sundays and to start building a tradition similar to the markets in Olomouc, Brno or Prague.
However, as the main actors, we want to address mainly you, Litomyšlans. Local wine bars, cafes, florists, craftsmen, gift sellers, as well as skilled artists, students, clubs and other organizations. The program shouldn't just be about booths. So the next call goes out to musicians who would like to play on the hill. To schools and clubs that could present their performances, and to everyone else who would like to put their ideas into practice. So that our Litomyšl Advent Sundays could be a place for a pleasant meeting of neighbours over a mulled wine, a place to show off their products, listen to music, watch various Christmas performances, etc.
For example, in cooperation with the SZaTŠ we are planning a gift exchange in the fort or a Christmas decoration show. With a group of local amateur actors, a theatre performance with a live nativity scene. Cafés are inventing special Christmas punches, local crib makers have promised a nativity exhibition and the Breeders' Association will bring live animals to show the children.
The added value of the markets in Litomyšl is their thematic focus. On the first Sunday, we will light the Christmas tree, the 1st candle on the Advent wreath in the Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross and we will open an exhibition of nativity scenes. The second will focus on Christmas decorations and ornaments, and the third will be dedicated to Christmas drinks and treats. The last one, the fourth, will be traditional and will offer Christmas customs, crafts and live pets.
We therefore offer an open space for self-realisation to all of you who are interested in the vision of this Christmas programme and we ask for your cooperation. Whether a stall, a cultural programme, or any other idea, we would certainly welcome it.
