The project School at the Castle is the main carrier of the idea of reviving the newly reconstructed area of the Castle Hill in Litomyšl, not only in terms of restoring the monuments, but especially in terms of returning social life to this place. Compared to other educational projects in the Czech Republic, the School at the Castle builds on the unique possibility of connecting experiential pedagogy and the genius loci of the site of the Castle Hill in Litomyšl and the historical town of Litomyšl as a whole. It uses the potential of the link to the period realities, cultural heritage monuments and important personalities who lived in the town. The school's current offer includes mostly two-hour programmes focused on music, visual arts, architecture, history, creative writing, preventive experiential programmes for collectives, or environmental education, for example. The product portfolio thus offers the possibility of short-term programmes as well as of folding them into more time-intensive modules allowing for multi-day stays. The programmes are primarily aimed at primary and secondary school pupils. They complement the traditional school curriculum and are based on the Framework Curriculum. The programmes are designed to provide students not only with a suitable complement to their studies, but also with a unique experience, play and fun.
A castle hill in the hands of teachers, that is how we could comment on the future developments of the School at the Castle project in Litomyšl. Although the School at the Castle educational programmes are intended primarily for primary and secondary school children, on 5 February 2015 we would like to welcome as many teachers as possible to the Castle Hill who are interested in experiencing an unusual day in the company of qualified lecturers, deepening their knowledge of experiential pedagogy or trying out our experiential programmes in practice, all within the framework of the seminar School at the Castle and the possibilities of experiential pedagogy at the Castle Hill in Litomyšl.
The seminar will provide answers to a number of current questions related to experiential pedagogy, its connection with the RVP and current forms of teaching. The one-day event will be structured in two parts. The morning, theoretical block of the seminar will offer expert contributions on the topic of animation, creation of worksheets, or communication with children within educational programs. At the same time, it will also provide a discussion platform on the subject. The practical part will interactively introduce teachers to the programme offer of the School at the Castle and direct them to its further use in the context of teaching in schools.
Participation in the seminar is free of charge. You can register by 15 January in writing, electronically by e-mail: info@zamecke-navrsi.cz, or via the e-mail form at www.skolanazamku.cz in the contact section.
