The castle hill in Litomyšl is marked in spa terminology as the Bedřich Smetana Spring. Bedřich Smetana, as is well known, was born in the chateau brewery, but unfortunately no beer is brewed there today. During this year's opening of the 4th Litomyšl spa season, we will return to the time of the birth of our most famous native, when beer was still brewed on the hill. Under the influence of the idea of the Spirit Spa, we will transform the Castle Hill into a Beer Spa. From 10 am to 5 pm, spa guests will be able to sit in the 1st courtyard of the castle and enjoy a sip of delicious Bedřich's 11 and 12, taste beer specialties or spa cuts and buy a special liqueur called Spa Swizzle. We will also reminisce about the past glory of the castle brewery. From 10.00 we will follow the traces of brewing in Litomyšl. The architect Eliška Racková from the National Institute of Natural History will guide visitors through the building of the castle brewery and explain its construction history and the history of brewing beer in Litomyšl.
A deckchair viewpoint will be open from 10 am to 5 pm in the immediate vicinity of the Beer Baths in the 1st castle courtyard. Enjoy the view of the unique UNESCO Renaissance monument and the spa-style sgraffito decoration. You will also be kept company by spa saints who will tell you many interesting stories about the castle and its immediate surroundings. In the comfort of the spa loungers, you will be able to see the unique sgraffito decoration of the castle down to the smallest detail. Our spa dancers and ladies will be happy to lend you binoculars for this purpose on request.
In the castle riding hall you can reminisce about the past years. From 10 am to 5 pm, photographs and films from past years will be shown, as well as historical photographs of Litomyšl and the Castle Hill. Opposite the riding hall, in the shadow of the Children's Pavilion and with the café in the coach house, there will be a day-long programme with the School at the Castle for parents with children. From 10 am to 5 pm, the School's lecturers will prepare workshops, art workshops and short demonstrations of the School at the Chateau programmes for children. At the School at the Chateau, we think not only about education, but also about the mental health of visitors to the spa of the spirit. The premises of the castle hill itself directly invites to relaxation connected with art therapy, in which spa guests relax not only physically, but especially mentally. The chateau art therapy will be based on practices that evoke the experience of emotions and the acquisition of inner harmony. The imagination of all guests will be a unique part of the whole healing process. And what healing processes can spa guests look forward to?
Experiments in many countries have shown that certain colours have a stimulating or calming effect on most people. They affect the perception of time, temperature and even the ability to concentrate or remember many pieces of information through colour perception. That is why it is important to pay attention to colours. Together with us in Color Therapy you can try to create your own kaleidoscope or just let the colors flow on the paper and play with them. Theatre, drama and emotions are inevitably linked to experience, together we will make simple puppets in Dramatherapy, become directors or writers of some nice fairy tales. What happens when the eardrums come alive and talk together? You will experience this for yourself, using your own imagination in another healing session of Music Therapy.
Theatre lovers can watch a special Spa Improshow in the castle brewery from 19.00. This time, the actors of the theatre and improvisation group Pa.Le.Ťác.I. will perform as spa dancers and ladies.
As part of exploring the beauty of the Castle Hill, visitors to the Spirit Spa will be able to visit the newly renovated Piarist Church with a breathtaking view of the whole town on Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm. At 9.30 p.m., a special night tour of the temple is prepared for those interested, with a surprise in the form of an unusual artistic performance in the temple. For visitors who want to get to know and explore the buildings on the Castle Hill in detail, their history and present, there are Architectural Tours on Sundays at 10 am and 3 pm. During the tours, we will guide you around the Castle Hill, where new architecture has been entering into a harmonious dialogue with historical architecture for many years. The tour focuses on the historical buildings of the Chateau Hill in Litomyšl reconstructed within the framework of the Chateau Hill Revitalization Project. The main theme of these special tours is the relationship between contemporary architecture and historical buildings.
