On Advent Sundays you can again spend pleasant afternoons on the Castle Hill in the company of angels. Christmas music and performances on the stage in front of the Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross, an exhibition of nativity scenes, good food and drink and a rich accompanying cultural programme will certainly contribute to the Advent relaxation. As last year, we will begin each Sunday with the lighting of the candle on the Advent wreath in the Piarist church. This symbolic act will be accompanied by a regular organ matinee by Petr Jiříček and a festive word from Litomyšl clergy. In the church you will also be able to visit guided tours of the exhibition of nativity scenes and the exhibition Angels on the Hill. On the stage you can look forward to performances by local bands, choirs, ensembles and schools. Among others, the Heblata folk ensemble, the pupils of the 2nd Primary School Litomyšl, Jana and Iva Věneček, the Litomyšl Schola and the band Four in a Van will perform. A new feature this year is the extension of the programme to other areas of the Castle Hill. In addition to the information centre, where you could already warm up with creative workshops for children last year, there will also be a programme for children in the new annex of the Piarist College. In this "children's corner", there will be fairy tale readings throughout the afternoon, musical workshops called Christmas carols and acted fairy tales. The magic of Christmas will also breathe on you in the Piarist College, where every Sunday there will be workshops and creations for all generations reminiscent of Christmas traditions and folk creativity. The regional museum has also prepared special art and creative workshops for the Advent afternoon. The Chateau Cellar will also be open, where you can traditionally enjoy an exhibition of Christmas decorations. As last year, the Sundays of Advent will be divided thematically. On the first Sunday of Advent, in addition to the lighting of the Christmas tree, you can also look forward to the theme of decorations and ornaments. The second Sunday of Advent, St. Nicholas Sunday, will be completely dominated by devils, angels and St. Nicholas; you can also meet them, for example, in the castle cellar, which will be completely in the power of hell. On the third Sunday of Advent we will fully enjoy the tastes and smells of Advent and the fourth Sunday will remind us of the traditions and crafts associated with Christmas time. Come to the hill on Sundays for a brew or hot chocolate and enjoy Litomyšl Advent.
