Olbram Zoubek + memories of Václav Havel + great wine aging in suboptimal conditions = Chateau Cellars Litomyšl
A place where the temperature in winter and summer is often more pleasant than outside will surprise you with its vastness. Thanks to the high vaulted ceilings, the cellar halls create a majestic space and the collection of sculptures by Olbram Zoubek only emphasises this impression. The large collection of works from various creative periods of the artist was completed on 12 April 2014 by Heart for Václav Havel. The artists Lukáš Gavlovský and Roman Švejda used wax from thousands of candles that people placed at memorial sites around the Czech Republic after Václav Havel's death. This part of the exhibition was designed by architect Josef Pleskot. In addition, in 2018, the authors acquired a large number of mirrors in a public collection, which they used to cover the vault of the cellar. The reflections of the original sculpture thus gave rise to the work More Hearts for Václav Havel. The memorial is complemented by hundreds of messages to our first post-Soviet president. In the climatically suitable environment of the chateau cellar, a unique range of Chateau Litomyšl wines is aging in bottles. The wines were produced by Moravian wineries in limited quantities only for this line. However, visitors can also choose from other wines from selected Moravian and Austrian winemakers. A visit to the cellars with wine tasting is undeniably one of the best things to experience at the chateau.
The chateau cellar is a very popular place for accompanying conferences, fairs and other meetings.
Every December, the Chateau Cellar changes its face for a few days, as it comes under the power of hell. At this time, it is a popular destination for families with children of various ages. Be brave, you too dare to enter the dungeon... In order to be received by Lucifer himself, you must book your visit in advance .
