The planned replacement of the Baroque frame of the painting "Christ Handing the Keys to the Apostle Peter" has given the opportunity to organize a lecture by the restorer Jiří Látal and Petr Arijčuk, an employee of the National Heritage Institute, who will present the restoration of the precious frame and the work of the recently appointed author of the canvas Judas Tadeáš Supper. The lecture will take place on May 16, 2017 at 5:00 pm at the Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross.
The Castle Hill invites lovers of not only Baroque art to an unusual lecture held on the occasion of the exchange of a rare frame from the collection of sacred art Angels on the Hill, located in the Piarist Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross. One of the interesting works, which was included in the exhibition for its quality, is the painting "Christ handing the keys to the Apostle Peter". In addition to the painting itself, which was created in the mid-1850s, the remarkable contemporary picture frame, which is the work of an unidentified carver, also impressed with its qualities. The frame itself was so damaged that a comprehensive restoration became necessary. This took place, alongside the restoration of the painting itself, during 2015 and 2016. Now this currently restored Baroque frame (it is still represented in the exhibition by its identical, as yet unrestored counterpart) will be placed in its intended place in the exhibition.
A meeting with the restorer Jiří Látal and Petr Arijčuk, an employee of the National Heritage Institute, will offer an opportunity to learn more about the restoration of this Baroque frame before its installation in the exhibition - as well as an opportunity to see a visual confrontation with its as yet unrestored counterpart. The painting "Christ Handing the Keys to the Apostle Peter" and its author, the Moravian painter Juda Tadeáš Supper (1712-1771), who was only identified during the preparation of the exhibition, will also be presented on this occasion.
The event will take place on 16 May 2017 from 17:00 in the Piarist Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross.
