The exhibition of the leading Czech artist Magdalena Jetelová The essential is no more visible is open from mid-June to the end of October in the crypt of the Piarist Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross in Litomyšl.
It is difficult to define the Renaissance personality of Magdalena Jetelová in a single term. The artist's realisations oscillate between concept, land art, sculpture, painting, installation and architecture. Currently, her work can also be seen in the National Gallery, where she presented her installation A Touch of Time in the Trade Fair Palace. The artist, who is very popular in Litomyšl especially for her Chair, a work that was long placed in the Monastery Gardens, is now returning to this town with a new exhibition. The exhibition, entitled The essential is no more visible, refers in its title to the important, which cannot be seen any more, or perceived with the inner eye. The exhibition is realised directly in the crypt of the Piarist Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross, a space which itself has a unique atmosphere. The object chosen for this place resembles a golden sarcophagus in shape and colour. It hides our curiosity and many questions, all carefully and tightly locked with a set of seals in the form of four texts, exclamations, embossed decorating the top peripheral edge of the golden chest.
A visit to Magdalena Jetelová's exhibition can be combined with a tour of the entire temple, an important Baroque monument of East Bohemia. There is also an observation deck between the towers of this church, which offers a unique view of the UNESCO monument - the Renaissance castle of Litomyšl and the whole town. In the Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross, you can visit the interactive children's program "Up to the Angels" for free, which will entertain and educate not only children but also adults. The exhibition "The essential is no more visible" is open daily from 2 to 6 p.m.
We look forward to your visit.
