LITOMYŠL / From 14 July to 17 September, the spaces of the castle riding hall and the castle brewery in Litomyšl will attract children and adults to the unique exhibition The World of Cubes. Exhibits of moving models, trains, animals and various buildings made of more than 750,000 pieces will fill an area of over 1,100 m2. Visitors can enjoy models from Lego, Seva, Mosaic Color, Gecco and Resta Model. For children, there will be two large playrooms full of bricks.
"For the author of the exhibition, architect Petr Šimr, this will be a life event. He has never realized such a large exhibition before. In Litomyšl, he presented his World of Blocks project in 2016, when he exhibited only Lego models in the riding hall. This year, he will bring other building blocks and the exhibition will fill the three largest halls we have on the Castle Hill for the whole summer," says David Zandler, director of the organizing organization.
After the lego, the biggest attraction of the exhibition will probably be the SEVA kit. This once very popular kit is enjoying a great renaissance and is gradually conquering the market again thanks to innovations and new ideas. One of the owners of this purely Czech company, Jan Lát, has promised to attend the opening ceremony. Apart from Seva, visitors will see the largest collection of the Lego Technic edition in the Czech Republic. The exhibition will also present models of building sets from Czech brands BLOK, Mosaic Color and Gecco. At the same time, phenomenal educational kits not only for pupils and students of construction schools, known under the brand RESTA MODEL, will be on display.
Two large playrooms await children in the exhibition area, where they can build their own models from the kits. Some kits will also be available for purchase on site. For parents, we have prepared a rest area with refreshments, and thanks to the air-conditioned halls, a visit to the exhibition is suitable even on hot summer days. In addition, the ticket is valid for the whole day, so it is possible to leave, for example, for lunch and return again.
"A complete novelty of this season is the combined ticket, which gives you access to several places on the Chateau Hill for a favourable price. The ticket is valid for the World of Bricks exhibition, it will take you to the Angels on the Hilltop exhibition and to the highest vantage point in the city in the Piarist church. It also gets you a ticket for a shortened tour of the castle, which is adapted for children. You will also receive a second free coffee at the Café el lamíno on the Castle Hill upon presentation of this ticket. Tickets can be purchased for CZK 170 at the exhibition box office, the Piarist church and information centres in Litomyšl. It is therefore definitely worth going to Litomyšl for the whole day," explains David Zandler.
For those who like to compete and like quest games, there is a competition for tickets and kits. The mascots of the exhibition, Lego figures, will hide tickets in various places and will post clues to find them on the Facebook page of the Castle Hill. So be sure to follow the FB page @zameckenavrsi regularly.
The grand opening of the exhibition will take place on Saturday, July 13 at 3:00 pm.
