LITOMYŠL / Since Sunday 28 July, musical tours with the important Litomysl musician and composer Petr Jiříček have started in the Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross in Litomysl. The unique musical encounter will take place every Sunday until 29 September 2019. The unique tour will begin at 10.30 a.m. with an organ concert, followed by a talk with Petr Jiříček and a classical tour of the church.
We cordially invite you to musical tours in the Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross in Litomyšl with the prominent Litomyšl musician, composer Petr Jiříček. The sound of the organ fills the beautiful surroundings of this Baroque pearl every Sunday at 10.30 am. The concert itself is free of charge. It will be followed by a 15-minute guided tour led by organist Petr Jiříček. You will learn many interesting facts about the church, the organ and the music. Then the guide will introduce you to the exhibition Angels on the hill and at the end you can enjoy the view of our beautiful city from the church's lookout. The price of admission is 70 CZK. The tours take place from 28 July to 29 September 2019, from 11.00 to 12.00.

Petr Jiříček is an important personality of Litomyšl in the field of social life. In 2017, he received a plaque from the City Council for his years of service at the Bedřich Smetana Elementary School of Arts in Litomyšl, where he has been educating new talents. The artist's archive of compositions consists of pieces for singing, choir, solo instruments and larger ensembles. From 2003 to 2010 he led the chamber choir L'oktet and in 2011 he and his friends founded the mixed choir Vox humana, primarily dedicated to the performance of new compositions. These include the musicals The Living Passion and Song of Songs, the stage cantata Clockwork, Mass in A flat major and others.
In addition to his musical work, he is also interested in literature, and besides writing texts and librettos, he devotes much of his time each winter to recording his experiences of cycling through European pilgrimage sites. The first series entitled "On a Bicycle from Litomyšl to Rome, Oslo and Taizé" was published in 2010, the second one entitled "On a Bicycle from Litomyšl to Medjugorje, London and the Hill of Crosses" was published in 2018.
